The Deafening Sound of Silence

Pastor Joe Robbe | Portland Mount Hope Church

[dropcap2]W[/dropcap2]hat do you think of the sound of silence? Does it scare you or do you welcome it?

I think most people would agree that silence has its place, but too much of it can be unnerving. But how much is too much? And how much is too little? In a world of constant noise, silence has become a rare commodity. Many of us live in a constant state of ‘background’ noise. You know what I am talking about; we always have to have the radio, TV or music playing in the background of our lives. Some background noise is fine, but chances are most of us are not getting enough silence in our lives.

[dropcap2]I[/dropcap2]love baseball. Always have and always will. I played it as a kid and follow it closely as an adult. The Detroit Tigers are my favorite team.

Crazy in Love…

[dropcap2]M[/dropcap2]y wife and I are crazy in love with our kids and grandkids. If you are either a parent or grandparent, you know what I am talking about! Being a dad has helped me to understand, more than anything else, the love that my heavenly Father has for me.

Navigating the Unexpected

Pastor Joe Robbe | Mount Hope Church | Portland Michigan

[dropcap2]I[/dropcap2]recently celebrated my 56th birthday. It wasn’t so much a celebration as it was a time of reflection, on where I had been and to where I am going.
Life is an interesting journey that has many unexpected twists and turns along the way. It is often the unexpected things in life, the things that you did not see coming, which can throw you off course. It does not take long once you get off track to realize that something isn’t right. The important thing is being able to find your way back.
